1971

  • Malcolm Fraser drove himself to Government House to resign as Defence Minister on the 8th of March 1971. Fraser accused Prime Minister John Gorton of disloyalty. Two days later Gorton was gone and Billy McMahon became Prime Minister.

2014

  • Jockey Roy Higgins MBE, aka “The Professor”, passed away on this day in 2014 aged 75.
